7-Eleven is ditching their one-day-only deal by offering free Slurpees throughout the whole month of July.
For nearly 20 years, the national convenience chain has offered free Slurpees to everyone who walked in on the store’s birthday, July 11. But last year — due to encroaching Covid safety concerns — the store changed the one day only policy in lieu of social distancing worries.
Crowds really do congregate like crazy around the Slurpee machines on that fatefully fun day, and the chain was leery of the rabid rush. So they changed the offer so you could pick up your free small Slurpee any day of July, not just on July 11.
7 Eleven Free Slurpee Day
The all-month long Slurpee switch not only answered the safety concerns, it was a hit with customers, as they could go pick up their freebie whenever they wanted, with no worries about standing in line.
Everyone who walks in on July 11 — officially known as “7-Eleven Day” — can still get their free Slurpee. To grab one on any other day of the month though, you’ll need to become a 7Rewards loyalty member to get your drink coupon.
So, as People explains, Slurpee fans can now show up to their local store on their own time and choose from the classic Slurpee or one of this summer's featured flavors — VitaminWater Zero Sugar Gutsy (aka Watermelon Peach), Pineapple Whip, and Blueberry Lemonade.
Maybe it’s the excitement of being able to get out there and play again as Covid slowly recedes, but new summer flavor options are really a thing this post-vaccine summer.
There are more deals in store for 7-Eleven’s birthday month too. Visitors will be able to snag another small Slurpee or any grill item for just $1 each. On July 11 only, the store will also offer a colorful birthday cake donut for 50 cents. And considering we are still fighting the virus, those leery of heading into stores can take advantage of free delivery for any 7-Eleven order during the birthday weekend, July 10-11.
Despite lockdowns, in March of 2020, 7-Eleven actually hired more people, upwards of 20,000.
'While we're celebrating our birthday month, we are also mindful that the COVID-19 pandemic has had a lasting impact on many families,' said 7‑Eleven Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Marissa Jarratt in a release. 'We know how important it is to come together and help the communities we serve in times of trouble.'
This shift in 7-Eleven’s free Slurpee promotion mirrors -- if in a simpler and summer fun way -- the shift that some big box stores have recently made in regards to moving away from a focus on “Black Friday.” Companies are noticing that folks don’t really want to stand in line for hours and fight crowds as much anymore. Further, Covid protocols have created shopping perks that customers have really taken to, like more frequent online deals and curbside service.
Don’t expect 7-Eleven to bring that free Slurpee to your car though, but the company is doing something far nicer. 7-Eleven revealed this year's birthday celebration will also include a donation of one million meals — $100,000 — to Feeding America.

In lieu of their annual free slurpee day on July 11, 7-Eleven is giving away a free small slurpeeany day in July! Simply download their free 7Rewards app and the promo coupon will appear in your account on July 1.
To find the coupon, check the “Scan and Save” section of the app once you're logged in. To find a 7-Eleven, drive around aimlessly and navigate only by sticking your head out the window and shouting for directions at stop lights. Seriously, it's fun!
The press release also states 7-Eleven will have a lot of food specials and sales throughout July too.

July 11, is otherwise known as 7-11. At least most of us call it 7-11. Maybe you're certifiably insane and call it Kingfork Day or 7-*foghorn noise*. If that's the case, then you and I should definitely hang out, as we are assuredly cut from the same cloth.
