Fungsi DVD Rom lambat laun mulai tersingkirkan oleh flash disk yang dari segi fungsional jauh lebih baik. DVD Rom sedikit demi sedikit mulai mengikuti jejak device terdahulu yaitu Floppy Disk. Yah… untuk kamu anak yang baru lahir kemarin mungkin tidak pernah melihat benda yang satu ini. Singkatnya, fungsinya hampir sama dengan flashdisk dengan space penyimpanan yang sangat kecil dan dimensi yang jauh lebih besar.

Salah satu contoh flashdisk yang lebih fungsional adalah saat berhadapan dengan laptop yang tidak dibenahi dengan dvdrom drive, sehingga FD menjadi sangat esensial (ya iyalah… kan laptonya gak punya DVDrom). Tidak adanya DVDrom drive, menjadikan kegiatan instalasi driver (yang biasanya dalam DVD) menjadi terhambat. Tapi problem sebenarnya adalah menginstall Operating System misalnya Windows ataupun Linux. Pada kasus demikian, laptop akan sangat bergantung dengan FlashDisk untuk menginstall OS (Operating System). Setelah kamu memasukkan file Operating Systemmu yang mungkin berisi Windows ke FD dengan salah satu aplikasi FD Bootable maka FD kamu telah siap menginstall.

Saat akan melakukan proses instalasi kamu harus masuk ke BIOS/UEFI untuk memilih device yang akan berjalan saat boot. Nah problemnya adalah, tidak semua laptop memiliki tombol yang sama untuk masuk ke BIOS/UEFI. Bahkan ada yang punya tombol tersembunyi. Berikut adalah tabel tombol atau cara masuk ke BIOS/UEFI semua Laptop alias lengkap.
